Hope for children

Making dreams of children with disability come true

Appropriate support

Many children in Syria face significant challenges every day; the continuous war causes ongoing unrest in the country and people’s lives. The country has poor infrastructure, and roads are often hardly accessible. Despite the many challenges in Syria, there are still people who have made it their mission to support and care for others, their families are not sure of the future of their children because of the political disputes and armed tensions, that is why they decided to escape from the areas of the tensions and they found the best and nearest place is Kurdistan region of Iraq in northern country, they are settled in camps and out camps and out camps in mostly in Dohuk governorate in north west of the region

When children with a disability receive appropriate support, they can make their dreams come true. There are too many examples of those children with special needs who receive support and their lives were changed. They received support from the Gashbon Organization for their disability. Nowadays, this support brings and provides hope to other children in the area of the target people.

Plays Music and teaches music

Mohammed Boby, now 23 years old, works as a facilitator at Gashbon center, he is giving trainings and recreational activities at the center in Domiz1 camp. His disability does not stop him from giving hope to others. His traditional musical instrument is personal experience.

When Mohammed was a child, Gashbon Organization supported him: ‘’I am an example of the Gashbon center’s mission in Domiz1 camp of Syrian refugees”: I’m now Giving the hopes to other children with special needs and with disabilities. I have personally experienced the impact of this program that can make on peoples’ lives.’’

A fruitful partnership

Mohammed is passionate about his work. He plays well on his Tamboura and professionally. He gives the moral support to the children in need. When children see him holding his musical instrument, they are impressed. They can see the program’s impact.

Mahammed Boby is positive and appreciative of the partnership between UNHCR, ACTED and Gashbon Organization. Gashbon supports people in their daily life, who want to improve, learn, work, eat and play their role in their community. It is a practical approach. Thanks to this collaboration, hope this support is continuous and to be extended. It helps us to deliver the voice of internal displaced people and refugees, people in needs and specially the people with special needs. And that is great!”

International Day for People with Special Needs. Here I’m managing the concert

Daily challenges are things of the past

Thanks to the collaboration of UNHCR, ACTED, and Gashbon Organization, Mohammed Boby can easily participate in parties and celebration events playing his Tambour and sing for the audience. He makes concerts, attends meetings and events, ‘’I have no more concerns about ‘’How do I play the Tambour? how do I sing? And how do I teach other children on music? What if I wasn’t supported by Gashbon?’’. Those worries and daily challenges are things of the past! This collaboration is fruitful, and I hope it will be blooming for a long time.’’
