Who We Are

Definition:

Gashbon organization is a humanitarian non-profit volunteer organization for guidance and psychosocial counselling, Gashbon is an independent entity not affiliated to any, religious, ethnic or political party.

Our story began:

Gashbon organization was established in 2014 by some volunteers having specialties in Education, Sociology, Psychology, and Human Development. The establishing of Gashbon coincided with the crises happened in Iraq and Syria and the fled of people and their forcibly movement to northern Iraq in KRG- Duhok city and their settlement in camps.. There was no building to hold meetings, Gashbon was holding meeting at some government’s department like (camp management). Gashbon started providing support to the refugees and IDPs voluntarily in camp and out-camps.. The beneficiaries were satisfied and happy with Gashbon’s services. Because Gashbon was not legally registered, we decided to register in both Erbil and Baghdad. Gashbon became a trust: After being registered and working voluntarily Gashbon was able to acquire the trust of the community and the humanitarian working agencies in the field and donors. Gashbon was able to work as partner with donors and other international agencies

Mission

We strive to achieve our mission by providing beneficiaries with the information, resources, and necessary support to enjoy their rights and achieve their potential.. Through this effort, we aim to improve the quality of life for women and individuals with disabilities and promote a more inclusive society.

Focus

Gashbon pays great attention on the most vulnerable refugees, IDPs, stateless, returnees and host community focusing on the women, children and the people with special needs.

Gashbon believes

Gashbon believes in human rights, the right of every person to have a freedom, safety, dignified life and reach her/his potentials without discrimination on the basis of race, gender, religion, social segment, and ethnicity. It also works towards the elimination of all forms of discrimination against women and promotes their capacity to fully participate in community development.

Objectives

• To promote gender equality and end violence against women, children and youth in the refugee, IDPs, stateless people and returnees’ locations. In particular, seeks to promote the health and empowerment of young women through critical reflections about gender, rights and health.
• Provide services to children and specially the children with special needs
• Disasters affected people reach wellbeing through providing Psychosocial support.
• Protect children at risk through working in child protection approaches.
• Provide a friendly environment where women and girls are protected and empowered through providing GBV and SGBV services
• Spread the culture of mental health.
• Find a positive psychological and social ability of all components of society
• Family counseling for families suffering from psychiatric disorders and stress problems
• Coordination with multimedia to activate a positive role in media and journalism
• Promote the peaceful coexistence (ethnic, religious and ideological) in the area.
• We work to provide research and psychological academic studies.
• Work to develop the education process through exciting study and motivation towards building desire to achieve goals, setting up the host on how to deal with the student, guiding students towards positive study mechanism and contemporary, raise the cultural level of the teacher in the area, lecture, establishment relations with students.
• Providing work opportunities through livelihood programs for jobless people and the new graduate university students

Monitoring and evaluation

Gashbon organization within its continuous work found that the assessments (skills needed assessment, area needs assessment for projects) are highly recommended to be carried out before implementing any activities that would ensure the better achievement for the targeted people and for the sustainability of the implemented activities. Evaluation of the impact of the implemented projected also found as one of the crucial activities to be taken to maintain the success and sustainability of the projects needed.

Gashbon TEAM

Gashbon’s team is the secret to its success. Each person is an experienced expert in management that lead to the success of Gashbon when they collaborate their efforts together. The Gashbon FAM team is a tight-knit, talented group with a shared vision of delivering consistently great results to the community we serve.

1- Tahseen Salih Ibrahim (male) Director: Master degree in cognitive psychology from university of Duhok college of Psychology and department of cognitive psychology.

2- Hikmat Issa Rasheed: (male) Chief manager: master degree in linguistic, graduated from university of Gaziantep Turkey college of languages

3- Abeer Faisal Ibrahim (Female)Finance manager: Bachelor degree in Duhok university, college of Arts\English department, he is responsible for Gashbun Operation including (HR, finance, logistics, procurement and security)

4-Jihan Mohammed Amin Abdulla : (Female) Logistic manager graduated from Duhok university college of basic education\English department

5- Sazan Hishyar Ali (female); Admin and HR manager:  graduated from University of Duhok\College of Geology 2019
